Impressive Start for UW Women’s Golf Team at 2024 Pac-12 Championships

The Washington women’s golf team commenced the 2024 Pac-12 Championships with a commendable performance, spearheaded by junior Jamie Hsieh’s impressive low round of 2-over 74 at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club. The team concluded the first round with a score of 14-over 302, securing a seventh place position, a mere five strokes behind the top three.

Hsieh’s exemplary display was underscored by a relatively pristine scorecard, featuring a birdie on each nine, alongside four bogies. Remarkably, only five players out of the 55-woman field managed to finish the opening round below par. Consequently, Hsieh enters the second round tied for 13th place.

The debutant, Vivian Lu, also exhibited a strong start, finishing her initial 18 holes just one stroke behind Hsieh, with a 3-over 75. Senior Camille Boyd secured the third position among UW’s five golfers, concluding the round with a 4-over 76, closely followed by senior Stefanie Deng with a 77.

The Huskies are scheduled to recommence play on Monday at Palouse Ridge for the second round, commencing at 9:20 a.m. PT. Furthermore, a recap of Sunday’s first round will be broadcasted on Pac-12 Network on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. PT.

The team’s promising start at the Pac-12 Championships sets the stage for an exciting competition ahead. We eagerly anticipate providing further updates as the tournament progresses.
