“The Divine Game Plan”: New Additions to UW-Green Bay Women’s Basketball Team

Following the recent appointment of Kayla Karius as the new women’s basketball coach at UW-Green Bay, the Phoenix have swiftly secured the commitment of two new recruits. Oostburg sophomores, Ady and Riley Ketterhagen, have publicly announced their decision to join UWGB and Coach Karius through social media.

Formerly serving as the head coach at South Dakota and a former Phoenix player, Karius had previously extended offers to the twins while at South Dakota. The twins had also received offers from former Phoenix coach Kevin Borseth, as well as from UW-Milwaukee.

Ady Ketterhagen expressed her enthusiasm for joining Karius, stating “All part of God’s plan,” as she eagerly anticipates the opportunity to play for the Phoenix. Her sister, Riley Ketterhagen, also conveyed her excitement and underscored the significance of being able to play alongside her sister at the collegiate level.

Highlighting the strong Sheboygan-area connection, Karius, herself a former Sheboygan North player, expressed her interest in the Ketterhagen twins after officially assuming the coaching position at UWGB.

After a family discussion, the twins reached out to Karius to confirm their commitment to UWGB. Ady expressed relief and excitement, stating “The pressure is off. I can just play.”

Both Ady and Riley enjoyed successful sophomore seasons, with Ady achieving the remarkable milestone of 1,000 points and being named the Big East-South player of the year. Riley, on the other hand, was recognized as a unanimous first team all-conference selection and received honorable mention all-Division 3 by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association.

In further testament to their family’s achievements in the realm of basketball, their younger sister, eighth grader Kinsley Ketterhagen, has also received offers from both UWGB and the Wisconsin Badgers.

As the recruitment process for the twins draws to a close and their younger sister embarks on her own journey, the Ketterhagen family’s basketball legacy continues to flourish.
