Sky Sports Cancels Fantasy Football League Show

The decision to cancel the return of Fantasy Football League by Sky Sports in 2022, less than two years after its revival, has left the producers disappointed. The show, a reboot of the original hit series, was hosted by Elis James and Matt Lucas. Spencer Millman, a producer on the show, expressed his disappointment in a public statement, thanking the production team and crew for their hard work and expressing gratitude to the viewers.

This cancellation adds to the blow of the decision by Sky Sports to remove the long-running Soccer AM from the airwaves last year, which had been a fixture of the Saturday morning schedule for nearly 30 years. This move was met with disappointment from fans who had grown to love the show, originally hosted by Tim Lovejoy and Helen Chamberlain.

A spokesperson for Sky Sports cited the need to “adapt to the evolving needs of our customers” as the rationale behind the decision to discontinue Soccer AM. They announced a period of consultation to discuss the proposed changes with their staff.

The cancellation of both Fantasy Football League and Soccer AM has prompted a debate among fans about the direction of Sky Sports’ programming. It remains to be seen how the broadcaster will address the evolving needs of its audience in light of these recent changes.
