Stony Brook University Tennis Team Suffers Defeat Against UNCW in CAA Championships

The Stony Brook tennis team suffered a challenging 4-1 defeat to the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) on Thursday in the First Round of the CAA Championship Tournament, bringing an end to their second season in the CAA.

The Seawolves were able to secure one point by triumphing in two out of three doubles matches. Mia Palladino and Elena Lobo-Corral emerged victorious in game one with a thrilling 7-5 victory, while Cornelia Bruu-Syversen and Darian Perfiliev clinched the final point for Stony Brook in game three.

Despite their commendable efforts in doubles, the Seawolves were unable to sustain their momentum in the singles matches, ultimately succumbing 4-0 to the Seahawks. Notably, Darian Perfiliev was leading 6-4, 5-3, and Elena Lobo-Corral was battling in the third set of her match 6-7, (6-8), 2-3 before the conclusion of the competition.
