The Return of Diaz Graham Twins to Pitt Basketball

The University of Pittsburgh’s basketball team has officially announced that the Diaz Graham twins, Jorge and Guillermo, will be remaining with the program for the upcoming season. Hailing from the Canary Islands in Spain, the 7-foot twins have proven to be integral players for the team over the past two seasons and each still has two years of eligibility remaining.

Guillermo Diaz Graham has been notably more active on the court than his brother Jorge, having participated in all 66 games over the past two seasons with 10 starts. In contrast, Jorge played in 31 games with one start in his first season and was limited to just 16 games this season due to an ankle injury.

Guillermo Diaz Graham, who has had to play in the power forward and center positions, has demonstrated steady improvement in his performance. During the 2022-23 season, he maintained an average of 12 minutes, 3.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game. In the subsequent season, he further elevated his game, averaging 17.9 minutes, 6.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 0.8 blocks per game. Meanwhile, Jorge has also exhibited improvement, averaging 10.5 minutes, 3.5 points, and 2.5 rebounds per game in the previous season.

Despite facing certain challenges, the twins have made substantial contributions to the team’s performance and are anticipated to continue playing a pivotal role in the upcoming season. In addition to the Diaz Graham twins, the team also boasts the upcoming junior Cam Corhen, redshirt freshmen Marlon Barnes Jr. and Papa Amadou Kante, as well as Zack Austin for their frontcourt in the next season.

It is noteworthy that the decision for the Diaz Graham twins to return is not linked to any NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) agreements, as international players are ineligible to enter into such arrangements. This choice underscores their unwavering dedication to the team, rather than being motivated by potential financial gain.
