Three exceptional student-athletes from the esteemed men’s tennis team at the University of Pennsylvania have recently been recognized with All-Ivy League honors. The announcement was made public by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.
Kian Vakili and Aaron Sandler, an impressive pairing, have been awarded second-team All-Ivy in doubles, while Tal Goodman has been honored with Academic All-Ivy recognition, a well-deserved accolade for his outstanding achievements both on and off the court.
The dynamic duo of Vakili and Sandler has achieved their first-ever All-Ivy accolades, a testament to their unwavering dedication and exceptional skill in the sport. The sophomore-freshman duo displayed an impressive 13-8 record during the spring season, including a noteworthy 2-3 record in top-tier Ivy competition.
Vakili and Sandler demonstrated their prowess on the court, engaging in 16 matches at the #1 position with a commendable 7-7 record, and seven matches at the #2 position with an impressive 6-1 record. Their talent was further highlighted by notable victories over ranked opponents, such as their defeat of the then-ranked #33 Jakob Cadonau and Cosme Rolland De Ravel of Old Dominion, and a significant triumph over Princeton’s Paul Inchauspe and Filippos, who concluded the season ranked #29.
Additionally, Vakili and Sandler embarked upon an impressive winning streak at the onset of the spring season, securing victories in four consecutive matches and achieving two separate three-match win streaks, further solidifying their status as exceptional athletes in the realm of men’s tennis.
