Lauren Stein, an outstanding player hailing from Cornell University, has once again been acknowledged for her exceptional performance in women’s tennis by securing a place on the All-Ivy League team for the third consecutive year. This year, she has been named a second-team singles honouree, adding to her previous accolades in 2023. In the preceding year, Stein, a native of Paradise Valley, Arizona, earned a place on the first team doubles alongside her teammate, Jenny Wong.
Stein’s remarkable efforts at the top position significantly contributed to the Big Red’s sixth-place finish in the Ivy League for the third successive season. She concluded the season with an impressive 10-8 overall singles record, securing seven victories in dual matches while exclusively competing at the No.1 position. The senior player achieved an upset win over the then-ranked #38 Columbia team, defeating their No.1 player, Anna Zhang, with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
Apart from her on-court achievements, Stein, a major in Hotel and Restaurant Administration, was also honoured as Cornell’s Academic All-Ivy representative for the second consecutive season, emphasising her excellence in the academic realm as well.
The Ivy League also acknowledged other exceptional players, such as Esha Velaga of Penn, who was named Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, along with Coach of the Year Jamea Jackson of Princeton.
