Kentucky’s Upcoming NBA Players Miss Out on Draft Combine Opportunity

Following the turbulent roster changes for the Kentucky Wildcats, it is noteworthy that several recruits have entered the NBA Draft to seek feedback, with the intention to continue playing college basketball next season. Among these recruits are Amari Williams from Drexel, Andrew Car from Wake Forest, Lamont Butler from San Diego State, and Koby Brea from Dayton.

Regrettably, none of these four players were included in the recently announced NBA Draft Combine invite list. However, Jaxon Robinson from BYU did receive an invitation, thus affording him the opportunity to improve his prospects and potentially remain in the draft, as he has been projected to be a late second-round pick.

In addition to the new Kentucky recruits, former players Antonio Reeves, Justin Edwards, Rob Dillingham, and Reed Sheppard were also among those who received invitations to the draft. The NBA disclosed that 78 players have been invited to the 2024 NBA Draft Combine, which is scheduled to take place from May 12-19 at Wintrust Arena and the Marriott Marquis in Chicago.

Notably, a tweet by NBA Communications indicated that a few standout players from the 2024 NBA G League Elite Camp may have the opportunity to secure an invitation to the combine if they perform exceptionally well at that event.

It is unfortunate news for the Kentucky Wildcats that their current players were not included in the NBA Draft Combine. Nonetheless, there remains hope for them to attract the attention of scouts if they receive an invitation to the NBA G-League Elite Camp and deliver exceptional performances.
