Tennis Club in Lancashire Celebrates Successful Fundraising Drive

The Lunesdale Tennis Club in Lancashire has recently achieved a significant milestone with the successful completion of their fundraising efforts to replace their two hard courts. The club is proud to announce an open day event on Sunday, May 19, where they will unveil their new facilities and extend a warm invitation to potential new members.

Committee chairperson Helen Bramley has highlighted the open day as an ideal occasion for the entire community to visit the club, witness the enhancements, and partake in enjoyable tennis activities. The club prides itself on its welcoming environment and prime location, and eagerly welcomes individuals of all skill levels to join.

The fundraising initiatives undertaken by the club included hosting ceilidhs, afternoon teas, and cheese and wine evenings, as well as securing private loans from its members. In total, an impressive £20,000 was raised. Additionally, the club obtained a £5,000 grant from Halton Trust, a £15,000 interest-free loan from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), and £1,000 from the charity 3R. These funds were utilized to completely renew the two courts with a new ‘carpet’ surface, as well as new nets, benches, and fencing.

Representatives from the contributing organizations, such as Halton Trust, LTA, and 3R, will be in attendance at the open day to commemorate the club’s achievement.

Helen Bramley conveyed her enthusiasm for the upgraded facilities and highlighted the club’s availability for year-round tennis activities. Furthermore, the club offers coaching for both adults and juniors through LTA coach Annabelle Cartmell of Cartmell Tennis Coaching.

In conclusion, the Lunesdale Tennis Club in Lancashire has undergone a remarkable transformation, thanks to the dedicated efforts of its members and the support from various organizations. The upcoming open day event promises to be a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together, experience the new facilities, engage in friendly tennis matches, and potentially become new members of this thriving tennis club.
