Red Sea Global (RSG) has recently disclosed its plans for Shura Links, Saudi Arabia’s inaugural 18-hole island golf course. The impressive course, scheduled to open in 2025, will feature holes over the water, stunning marina vistas, and fairways offering a picturesque backdrop of the Red Sea.
The creation of Shura Links has been a collaborative endeavour with prominent environmental consultants, with a strong focus on implementing sustainable practices within the club. This encompasses measures to diminish water usage and innovative methods for repurposing irrigation to support habitat development.
John Pagano, Group CEO of RSG, has conveyed his enthusiasm for the project, emphasising the distinctive and visually striking golfing experience that Shura Links will offer. In addition to providing exceptional playing conditions, RSG is committed to upholding sustainability standards. The team has prioritised nature conservation in the course’s maintenance, employing innovative turf management and meticulous foliar feeding.
Renowned golf architect Brian Curley, who has previously designed the world’s largest golf facility, Mission Hills Golf Club, collaborated with RSG in creating the layout for Shura Links. He described the course as a destination that can offer year-round sunshine, captivating sunsets, and a design that harmoniously integrates with the natural environment. The layout has been carefully crafted to cater to a wide range of golfers, from professionals seeking a challenge to beginners craving an exceptional playing experience.
Shura Links will feature a par 72 course that spans 7,500 yards at championship length, but with multiple tees and experiences at each hole. Each hole has been meticulously designed to offer diversity, playability, and an unforgettable experience. The course’s layout sees holes four to seven skirting the coastline, while the final stretch from 14 to 18 promises an exhilarating finish against a backdrop of open sea or channel views.
As the development of Shura Links continues, golf enthusiasts around the world eagerly anticipate the opportunity to tee off at this remarkable new course.
Overall, Shura Links is poised to make its mark as a premier golfing destination, combining natural beauty with sustainable practices to deliver an exceptional experience for players of all skill levels. With its anticipated opening in 2025, the course is set to redefine golfing standards in Saudi Arabia and contribute to the country’s growing reputation as a top-tier leisure and tourism destination.
