The New Era at Stevenage: Alex Revell Takes the Helm

Stevenage Football Club is pleased to announce the official appointment of Alex Revell as the new First Team Manager, succeeding Steve Evans who vacated the position in April. The decision to appoint Revell was made after a thorough evaluation of various candidates, with the club identifying Revell’s knowledge of the squad and his esteemed reputation among the players as qualifying factors for his selection as Evans’ successor.

In conjunction with Revell’s appointment, the club has also enlisted the services of an experienced coaching team to reinforce their prospects for success on the pitch. Neil Banfield, renowned for his coaching background at Arsenal, QPR, and Glasgow Rangers, joins as the Assistant Manager and First Team coach. Furthermore, Scott Cuthbert, a familiar figure to Boro’ fans and a former club captain, assumes Revell’s former number three role.

Chairman Phil Wallace has conveyed the club’s confidence in the newly appointed management team, emphasizing the importance of nurturing a strong rapport between the players and the coaching staff. Wallace has underscored the unique dynamics of the dressing room, commending the diligent and cohesive group of players and their existing trust and respect for Revell, which the club aims to augment with the addition of Banfield’s established coaching acumen and experience.

While acknowledging the uncertainties inherent in football, Wallace is resolute in his conviction that the new management team is suitably equipped to guide Stevenage in their pursuit to assert themselves as a formidable League One club that can compete with the top teams in the division.

In order to introduce the new management team to the fans and media, the club will be hosting a Press Conference at The Lamex Stadium’s 76 Lounge. This event offers an opportunity for supporters and media representatives to acquaint themselves with Revell, Banfield, and Cuthbert, and to inquire about their vision for the club’s future.

The appointment of Alex Revell and the accompanying coaching additions symbolize the commencement of a new chapter for Stevenage Football Club. With a focus on preserving the team’s identity and fortifying the coaching staff, the club is poised to embark on an exhilarating journey under the new leadership.
