Wyoming Signs Sundance Wicks as New Head Basketball Coach

The state of Wyoming has officially appointed Sundance Wicks as the new head coach of the men’s basketball team in a five-year agreement. Sources revealed to ESPN on Sunday that Wicks is set to assume leadership of the Cowboys.

Wicks comes with a distinguished track record, having previously served as the coach for Green Bay. Under his guidance, the Phoenix experienced a significant turnaround, achieving an 18-14 record, a notable improvement from the previous season. His success at Green Bay has established him as a standout in college basketball.

Notably, Wicks is familiar with Wyoming, having previously worked as an assistant coach for the Cowboys from 2020 to 2023. Additionally, he held the position of head coach at Missouri Western from 2018 to 2020, further enhancing his coaching experience and expertise.

His appointment comes as a replacement for Jeff Linder, who is finalizing a deal to join Texas Tech as the top assistant coach. During his tenure, Linder led Wyoming to a solid 63-59 record over four seasons and helped the team secure a spot in the NCAA tournament in 2022.
