Police Appeal: Help Identify Suspect in Edinburgh Assault

Police in Edinburgh are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying an individual involved in an assault that occurred in the city centre following the Scotland v England rugby match. The incident took place on West Preston Street at approximately 8.40pm on Saturday, February 24. To aid in the investigation, law enforcement has released a CCTV image of the person they wish to speak with.

The individual in question is described as a white male with short dark hair, clean shaven, and of average build. At the time of the incident, he was observed wearing a black puffer jacket, black hoody, a red T-shirt, khaki green trousers, and black trainers. Detective constable Greer issued a statement urging the man depicted in the image, or anyone who may recognise him, as well as individuals with information regarding the incident, to come forward and promptly contact the police.

Authorities are requesting that anyone who can assist in identifying the individual reach out to Police Scotland by dialling 101 and referencing incident number 3704 of February 24, 2024. Alternatively, information may be provided anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
