Farewell to Pontypridd RFC Players

The coaching and management team of Pontypridd RFC have been diligently preparing for the upcoming 2024/25 Welsh Premiership campaign. As part of this meticulous process, it has been confirmed that a number of players will be departing from the Club.

Tom Harper, a highly skilled tight head prop, has amassed an impressive 69 appearances for the Club since his arrival in 2021. Sion Parry, a dynamic open-side, joined Pontypridd in 2019 and made 64 appearances, achieving his international debut for Canada. Tom Devine, a scrummaging loose head prop, became a part of Ponty in 2021 and accumulated 43 appearances. Aled Ward, a former Wales U20 International, joined in 2022 and made 39 appearances. Joseph Scrivens, credited with 35 appearances, began his career at Penallta RFC before entering the Ospreys pathway as a teenager. Ben Burnell, with international honours with Wales U18s and U20s, made 31 appearances after his return to Ponty. Josh Phillips, a product of the Pontypridd Juniors, joined from the Scarlets and made 25 appearances. Harvey Nash, who played for Cardiff Blues U16’s, U18’s, and international rugby for Wales U20s, made 25 appearances. James Murphy, who made 25 appearances, was capped by Wales at youth level before transferring to Pontypridd in 2019. Liam Lloyd, a speedy winger, scored 7 tries in 19 appearances. Ryan Wilkins, a talented centre, scored 9 tries in 15 appearances. McCauley Rowley, who previously represented Cardiff Blues U16’s and U18’s, made 15 appearances.

The departing players have all made noteworthy contributions to the Club, and Pontypridd RFC would like to express our gratitude for their efforts during their tenure with us, as well as extend our best wishes for their future endeavours.

As we bid farewell to these players, the Club has retained a significant portion of the squad and is currently in negotiations with other players. Further squad updates will be announced in the near future, so please stay tuned for any developments.
