The UL Ragin’ Cajuns basketball team has recently made significant moves in the transfer portal, most notably with the addition of Christian Wright from Oregon State. Wright himself announced this exciting news on Friday, committing to joining the Cajuns.
Hailing from Alpharetta, Georgia, Wright initially played for the Georgia Bulldogs before transferring to Oregon State. At 6 feet 3 inches and 185 pounds, he brings depth and experience to the Cajuns’ point guard position.
Wright’s outstanding high school career at Milton High and The Skill Factory Prep team earned him a reputation as a standout player, with impressive averages of 27 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Following his commitment to Iona, he excelled at Georgia, playing in all 31 games as a freshman and showcasing his skills by averaging 5.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. Notable performances included scoring 16 points against No. 2 Auburn and 17 points with six boards against No. 18 Memphis.
During his time at Oregon State, Wright saw consistent playing time, starting 14 of 29 games as a junior this past season. His dedication and hard work have now culminated in his decision to join the Cajuns.
Wright joins other newcomers, such as Mostapha El Moutaouakkil, Duncan Powell, Kyndall Davis, and Jeremiah Evans, as well as the potential addition of Louisville transfer Koron Davis. This influx of talent certainly compensates for the losses suffered by the team earlier in the offseason.
With Wright’s experience and skill set, the Cajuns are looking forward to a strong upcoming season. His presence on the team will provide valuable depth and expertise, especially at the point guard position, where Michael Thomas currently stands as the only full-time collegiate point guard on UL’s roster.
The future looks promising for the UL Ragin’ Cajuns basketball team, and the addition of Christian Wright is undoubtedly a step in the right direction. Fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming season and the contributions that Wright will bring to the team.
