The head coach of the University of Alabama’s men’s basketball team, Nate Oats, has recently declared the incorporation of five new players to the team for the upcoming 2024 season. The newly recruited players include Aden Holloway, Houston Mallette, Clifford Omoruyi, Labaron Philon, and Chris Youngblood.
The 2024 NLI Signing Class, with these five players, has been ranked as the No. 2 overall signing class by 247Sports, and No. 3 by On3 and Rivals. It is noteworthy that this marks the fourth consecutive year that head coach Nate Oats has obtained a top-15 signing class since joining the university, and it is the first time in the program’s history that four consecutive top-15 signing classes have been secured.
Aden Holloway, a sophomore from Charlotte, N.C., demonstrated remarkable skills at Auburn and Prolific Prep before joining the team. He was named to the 2024 SEC All-Freshman Team and earned two-time SEC Freshman of the Week honours, making him a highly promising addition to the team.
Houston Mallette, a senior from Alameda, Calif., has consistently performed at a high level at Pepperdine and was named to the 2024 All-WCC Honorable Mention squad, demonstrating his experience and potential to significantly contribute to the team.
Clifford Omoruyi, a graduate from Benin City, Nigeria, joins the team with an impressive college career at Rutgers, where he was a three-time All-Big Ten honoree and a finalist for the 2023 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award, showcasing his talent and expertise on the court.
Labaron Philon, a freshman from Mobile, Ala., has showcased his skills and potential during his time at Link Academy, being ranked as the No. 30 overall recruit by ESPN and impressively scoring 2,334 points in his three seasons at Baker High School.
Chris Youngblood, a graduate from Tuscaloosa, Ala., has had outstanding performances at both Kennesaw State and South Florida, being named the American Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Year last season and also leading Kennesaw State to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Nate Oats expressed his delight in welcoming these new players to the team, highlighting their skills, talent, and potential value to the program. With a combination of experienced transfers and promising freshmen, the Alabama men’s basketball team is gearing up for an exciting and competitive 2024 season.
