On Sunday, the Indian men’s hockey team suffered a challenging 1-3 defeat against the host team, Great Britain, during their second match of the FIH Pro League in London. This loss came hot on the heels of the Harmanpreet-led side’s impressive 3-0 victory over the world champions, Germany.
The match saw Bandurak Nicholas of Great Britain netting two field goals in the 2nd and 11th minute, with his teammate Calnan Will adding another goal for GBR in the 47th minute. On the Indian side, Abhishek managed to secure a lone goal in the 35th minute with a field effort.
Despite their efforts, India struggled to convert any of the eight penalty corners they earned, while Great Britain also faced challenges in utilizing the five penalty corners they received. Presently, India occupies the third position in the FIH standings, one spot ahead of Britain.
Looking ahead, India’s upcoming match against Germany on June 8 in the same tournament presents another opportunity for the team to showcase their skills and determination in the FIH Pro League.
