Exciting Showdown at Bangor: Class B, C North Tennis Regional Finals Recap

In an exciting day of tennis competition, three North regional tennis finals took place in Bangor and Hampden on Saturday. The Caribou girls secured the Class B North title at Bangor High School, while the MDI boys and Orono boys emerged victorious in their respective divisions at the Armstrong Tennis Center in Hampden after the matches were moved due to rain.

The Caribou girls achieved a 3-2 victory over Waterville, showcasing impressive skill and determination. The No. 1 doubles team of Emmie McIntyre and Joslyn Griffeth set the tone for the Vikings by securing a win, followed by No. 3 singles player Ella Bennett’s straight-set victory. While Waterville managed to win the No. 2 doubles match, Caribou’s No. 1 singles player, Madeynn Deprey, ultimately secured the win for her team with a straight-set victory.

In the boys’ division, the MDI boys defeated Caribou 4-1 to claim the Class B North title. The Orono boys also emerged triumphant with a 3-2 win over Washington Academy to secure the Class C North title, demonstrating skill and determination throughout their matches.

These regional champions will progress to the state title matches at Bates College on Wednesday, where they will have the opportunity to further display their exceptional talent and determination. Additionally, the Class C North Girls Championship between Piscataquis and Fort Kent is scheduled to take place on Monday at 3 p.m. at Bangor High School due to the rescheduling of Saturday’s matches.
