The Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing to the public for any information related to a violent incident that transpired during a rugby match at the Sandy Park stadium in Exeter. A man sustained a broken leg and ankle, which required surgical treatment, during the altercation that took place on April 20 while the Exeter Chiefs were playing.
According to reports from the investigating officers, a dispute between two individuals escalated when one of them pushed the other, causing him to fall to the ground. The assailant then allegedly proceeded to repeatedly stamp on the victim’s leg and ankle, resulting in multiple fractures and the need for hospitalization.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is currently out on police bail. The authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the attack, particularly in the outside toilet area adjacent to the Powderham Castle Bar between 9:30pm and 11pm, to come forward with any pertinent information.
A spokesperson for the Devon and Cornwall Police stated, “It was reported that two men became involved in a discussion before one man shoved the other backwards causing him to fall to the ground. Whilst on the ground it is alleged the suspect stamped on the man’s ankle a number of times, resulting in numerous fractures to the leg and ankle. The injured party was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery.”

Meanwhile, the council leader of Exeter has intervened in the immediate removal of the low traffic neighbourhood road blocks that have been recently dismantled in the city.
