Foot Locker Inks New Deal with Basketball Australia

American footwear giant and retail chain Foot Locker has recently announced a partnership with Basketball Australia, solidifying their role as a major sponsor of the Australian men’s national basketball team, popularly known as the Boomers.

As part of this collaboration, the Boomers will showcase the distinctive Foot Locker logo on their game day shorts, debuting at the Ford BALLIN’24 series at John Cain Arena this July. This will be followed by appearances during their pre-Olympics exhibition matches against formidable teams such as the USA and Serbia in Abu Dhabi.

Furthermore, Foot Locker is positioned to receive extensive media coverage across multiple platforms, including on-court signage during national broadcasts, as well as offering prizes for the half-time competitions at the upcoming Boomers vs China games.

The retail giant is also throwing its support behind the upcoming Boomers and Opals Super Camp in July, where they will provide exclusive deals and prizes for the 500 participants. Additionally, a select group of players from the Boomers squad are scheduled to make special appearances at the Foot Locker store at QV, Melbourne on Wednesday, June 26 for a series of exclusive meet and greets.

Brendan Graham, the Senior Director of Marketing APAC at Foot Locker, expressed the company’s dedication to fostering the culture, passion, and excitement of basketball at various levels in Australia. He stated that their partnerships in the basketball space ensure that they are there to cater to the needs of athletes at every stage of their development, from junior camps and tournaments to the highest professional level.

Graham also commented on the immense pride Foot Locker feels in aligning themselves with Basketball Australia, asserting that the Boomers squad, whose lineup consists of local talents and NBA stars, represents the epitome of this journey.

On the other hand, Basketball Australia’s EGM of High Performance, Jason Smith, acknowledged and welcomed the partnership with Foot Locker, emphasizing how it enhances the retailer’s continuous support and contributions to the sport in the country. This encompasses their long-standing backing of Basketball Australia’s National Championships across various age levels, as well as their unwavering commitment to leagues such as NBL1, WNBL, NBL, and the globally-renowned streetball event, Summer Jam.

With such a promising partnership, it appears that Foot Locker and Basketball Australia are poised to make significant strides in the world of basketball, not only in Australia but on the global stage as well. As the two entities come together, it undoubtedly signals positive developments for basketball enthusiasts and fans alike.
