Several schools in the region are preparing for the Lichfield Primary Schools’ Tennis Festival, where children will showcase their tennis skills. The event, scheduled for Wednesday, June 19th, promises to be a day filled with competition and camaraderie.
Arranged by MicroSports, the festival aims to involve over 220 pupils with varying abilities in a range of tennis games and activities. Michael Hampson, the director of MicroSports, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are delighted to organize this festival for local pupils, promoting community wellbeing and tennis as a sport. We have successfully hosted a similar event in Tamworth for several years, which has been well-received by children.”
The festivities extend beyond the festival itself. Following the event, children are encouraged to continue their tennis journey through weekly coaching sessions at Beacon Park tennis courts and the Lichfield Friary Tennis Club. Furthermore, in partnership with the Lichfield District Council, MicroSports will reopen the renovated tennis courts at Burntwood Leisure Centre later this month.
This event is not only about enjoyment; it also provides an excellent opportunity for the children to enhance their skills and cultivate a passion for tennis. These initiatives aimed at promoting physical activity and sports among young people are truly commendable.
Engaging children in physical activities from a young age is of great importance. It not only contributes to their physical development but also instils vital life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and determination. The Lichfield Primary Schools’ Tennis Festival serves as a wonderful example of an event that encourages children to be active while having fun.
With the festival approaching, the children are filled with excitement. The day is expected to be one of laughter, competitive spirit, and most importantly, the joy of playing sports. Let us hope that the event is a resounding success and serves as an inspiration for the young participants to continue pursuing their interest in tennis.
