Today, golfers from the Isle of Wight will be hosting a fundraising event in Ryde to support Macmillan Cancer Support. The event has been organized in memory of Christine Buckell-May, who tragically passed away in 2014. As part of the Longest Day Golf Challenge, participants will be teeing off at dawn and completing 36, 72, or 100 holes to raise crucial funds for the charity.
Among the participants in the 72-hole challenge is Daniel May, the grandson of Christine. Daniel, who received golf lessons from his father, David May, is part of a dedicated team of five Islanders committed to supporting Macmillan. The team has set an ambitious fundraising goal of £1,000 and has already secured nearly £400 in donations.
Expressing sincere appreciation for the support received, Daniel stated, “I want to thank everyone who has supported us so far and is helping to make it a success.”
The Longest Day Golf Challenge in support of Macmillan will be held at Westridge Golf Centre in Ryde. The event aims to raise crucial funds to assist individuals affected by cancer and their families.
