Dundee Football Club is pleased to announce the re-signing of goalkeeper Jon McCracken on a two-year contract, marking his return to the team following stints with Norwich City and Accrington Stanley.
McCracken’s involvement with Dundee last season consisted of two separate periods, during which he made significant contributions to the team’s performance. His initial tenure involved participation in three league cup matches and the first league game of the season before his recall by Norwich City. Subsequently, McCracken joined Accrington Stanley on an emergency loan, playing 13 times for the League Two side before returning to Norwich. His final return to Dundee on January 29th saw him play a pivotal role in eleven matches, ultimately aiding the team in achieving top six status.
Upon the expiry of his contract with Norwich City, Jon McCracken has committed to a further two-year term with Dundee FC. In expressing his enthusiasm for rejoining the club, he stated, “It’s great to be back, it’s my third time signing in twelve months, it must be some sort of record, but I’m delighted to commit to the club like they have committed to me. At the end of the season, it didn’t feel like I was saying goodbye, we had already had initial talks about me coming back and when I sat down and spoke to the manager about it my mind was made up. In the end, it was a fairly easy decision. To be part of the team that finished in the top 6 was fantastic and I’ve seen the ambition the club has and I want to be part of that.”
In recognition of his pivotal role within the team, Jon McCracken has been assigned the coveted number one shirt number for the upcoming season, signifying his status as the team’s primary goalkeeper.
The return of Jon McCracken to Dundee FC has been warmly received by the club and its supporters, signaling the continuation of a successful partnership between the talented goalkeeper and the esteemed football club.
