Reidsville, N.C. – Kendre Harrison, a third-year student at Reidsville High School, has been garnering attention in the world of sports due to his notable achievements in basketball and football. Standing at an impressive height of 6 feet 7 inches and weighing 243 pounds, Harrison has established himself as an outstanding athlete in both sports, earning a four-star prospect ranking in basketball and a five-star prospect ranking in football for the Class of 2026.
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has expressed interest in recruiting Harrison, presenting him with a dual scholarship to participate in both football and basketball for the Tar Heels. Head coach Mack Brown officially extended the football offer, and head coach Hubert Davis subsequently added a basketball offer during a meeting with Harrison while he was in town for UNC’s June football camp. This exceptional opportunity has further heightened the anticipation surrounding Harrison’s prospective career in collegiate sports.
Harrison’s prowess on the basketball court is equally impressive. With an average of 19.4 points, 15.1 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game, his commanding presence has propelled his team to a state championship victory. A video of his highlight-reel dunk, which resulted in a shattered backboard, went viral, solidifying his reputation as a formidable force on the court.
On the football field, Harrison’s contributions to the 15-1 championship-winning Rams were just as remarkable, playing as a tight end and defensive end. He achieved 62 catches, 940 receiving yards, and 16 touchdowns on the offensive end, while tallying 76 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, and nine sacks on defense. His exceptional performance significantly contributed to the Rams’ state championship triumph.
With numerous scholarship offers from esteemed universities nationwide, including the University of Alabama, Florida State University, the University of Michigan, and Duke University, among others, Harrison’s talent has undoubtedly captured the attention of the national sports community.
Should he choose to pursue both football and basketball at UNC, Harrison would be following in the footsteps of legendary Tar Heels’ athletes who excelled in both sports. Former Tar Heels such as Julius Peppers, a Pro Football Hall of Fame player for the Carolina Panthers, and Ronald Curry, who was drafted by the Oakland Raiders, have set a high standard for multifaceted athletes at UNC.
As Harrison deliberates on his future options, his accomplishments in both basketball and football have undeniably positioned him as an emerging star in high school sports, with the potential to make a significant impact at the collegiate level. His poised athleticism, commitment, and unwavering passion for the game make him an exciting prospect to watch as he navigates his journey through high school and, eventually, college sports.
