Chris Hearn Recognized as Senior Male Player of the Year at LTA Tennis Awards

The LTA Tennis Awards, presented by Lexus, recently honoured Chris Hearn, a tennis coach from High Wycombe, with the Senior Male Player of the Year award. The prestigious award ceremony took place at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, where Hearn graciously accepted the accolade before enjoying a day at Wimbledon.

Hearn’s achievement at the World Championships, where he emerged victorious in the mixed doubles 60+ category alongside Gill Brook, was particularly noteworthy. In expressing his gratitude, Hearn acknowledged the support of his partners throughout his tennis journey, stating, “It is fantastic, I have a lot of good partners which has helped me having enjoyed tennis for so many years.”

His enduring passion for tennis was evident as he remarked, “And I am still very passionate about it, so it is nice that people recognize you are still keen to play and enjoying it.” Moreover, Hearn shared insights into the extreme conditions he endured during the championships, underscoring the resilience required to succeed in the sport.

The LTA Tennis Awards, presented by Lexus, were established in 2015 to honour the dedication of volunteers, coaches, officials, and players in the tennis community. With over 2,200 nominations across 15 categories, the ceremony recognises outstanding contributions to the sport.

In addition to his success at the World Championships, Hearn has made significant contributions as a coach in Surrey and Berkshire, working with individuals of all ages. He emphasized the profound impact of tennis on his life, stating, “Tennis, it has given me an unbelievable life, I am very fortunate, I have traveled the world and for everyone at various levels, it gives you a great time.”
