The municipal authorities in Akron, Ohio are currently pursuing a woman who unlawfully entered Mud Run Golf Course in the early hours of Wednesday morning and absconded with property from a storage shed. The suspect, who remains at large, also attempted to take a joyride in one of the golf carts before ultimately fleeing the scene with the stolen goods.
According to a report from the Akron Police Department, the daring break-in took place at 3:30 a.m. last Wednesday. The unidentified woman first attempted to start one of the golf carts by prying off the wheel lock, but was unsuccessful. Undeterred, she then tried to gain access to the clubhouse by testing both the front and back doors before successfully making her way into the storage shed and taking several items.
This is not the first instance of criminal activity at Mud Run Golf Course. In 2022, vandals caused significant damage to the sixth hole, resulting in the destruction of a fence and disruption of the green. The repair costs amounted to tens of thousands of pounds, and the local government, which owns the course, was required to cover the expenses.
The Akron Police Department has appealed to the public for assistance in identifying the suspect. In a statement posted on social media, the department urged anyone with information about the crime to come forward. They also advised individuals not to approach the suspect if sighted, but rather to report any sightings to the authorities.
Anyone who may have information about the burglary or the identity of the perpetrator is asked to contact Akron Police Detective Sgt. M. Joyner at 330-375-2464, the APD Tip Line at 330-375-2TIP, or the Summit County Crimestoppers, Inc. at 330-434-COPS (2677). Meanwhile, the search for the elusive golf course trespasser continues, as the authorities endeavour to bring the culprit to justice.
