Under her guidance, the Sun Devils have made remarkable progress, amassing an impressive 92-67-5 record. Her exceptional coaching prowess has garnered recognition, resulting in her recent appointment by the American Collegiate Hockey Association to lead the U.S. squad at the prestigious event.
Prior to her tenure as a coach at ASU, Ellis was a Division I hockey player at Miami University (Ohio) in the ACHA for four seasons. Following her playing career, she returned to her home state to establish the Div. I women’s hockey program at ASU, which has blossomed into one of the top programs in the ACHA.
The 2023-24 season saw Ellis guiding ASU to an unprecedented undefeated season, culminating in a flawless 18-0-0 record in conference play in the WWCHL. Her unwavering determination and hard work have propelled the team to greater heights, resulting in numerous top-10 rankings in the ACHA and multiple appearances at the ACHA Div. I National Championships.
In pursuit of greater competitive challenges, Ellis and the Sun Devils have decided to compete as an independent program in the ACHA, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to excellence.
Expressing her gratitude for the opportunity, Ellis stated, “I was extremely honoured to have been chosen for this opportunity. Coaching at ASU has provided me with years of experience leading to this moment.”
Ellis’s leadership has played a pivotal role in the advancement of the ASU women’s hockey program, as she has recruited top talent and fostered an environment that empowers players to achieve their full potential. Her unwavering dedication to the sport and her team has earned her respect and admiration from her players, staff, and the hockey community at large.
Her selection to lead the U.S. women’s team is a testament to the solid foundation she has established at ASU and the remarkable decade of work she has devoted to the program.
