Penn State Women’s Tennis Team Unveils Exciting 2024 Spring Schedule

The women’s tennis team at Penn State University has recently announced its schedule for the spring of 2024. Under the leadership of head coach Alexandra McIntyre, the team is preparing for a rigorous season consisting of 21 matches, including 10 home games and five matches against 2023 NCAA Tournament teams.

Coach McIntyre has conveyed her optimism for the forthcoming season, emphasizing the team’s dedication to enhancing their performance and competing at the highest level. She has highlighted the team’s experience and expressed confidence in their ability to overcome any challenges they may encounter.

The Nittany Lions’ schedule will comprise 11 Big Ten matches and 11 non-conference contests, providing numerous opportunities for the team to exhibit their skills and compete against a diverse array of opponents.

The season will commence with an away match against Kentucky on January 20, followed by additional road games against Columbia and Penn on January 27 and 28, respectively. The team will then return to their home court for their first home match of the season against Saint Francis on February 2, before heading to Old Dominion on February 4 to face off against the 2023 Sun Belt Champion.

Following these fixtures, the Nittany Lions will engage in three consecutive home matches against Delaware, Yale, and Princeton, affording local fans the opportunity to show their support for the team and witness their competitive spirit in action.

The team will subsequently embark on a three-game road trip, competing against Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, and UCSB before returning home to commence Big Ten play against Michigan State on March 15. The following weekend, the team will travel to Ann Arbor to take on the 2023 Big Ten Regular Season and Tournament Champions, Michigan.

Subsequent conference matchups against Purdue, Indiana, Rutgers, Maryland, Ohio State, Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois will ensue, culminating in a Senior Day match against Northwestern on April 21.

The Big Ten Tournament is scheduled to take place from April 24-28, followed by the NCAA Tournament, commencing with the first and second rounds on May 4-5 at regional sites. The tournament will progress to super regionals on May 10-11, leading up to the NCAA Championships from May 16-25 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
