A regrettable collision took place last evening in Capaci, resulting in the tragic death of a 45-year-old man and leaving his 15-year-old daughter in critical condition. The incident occurred on Via Sommariva, a thoroughfare in the heart of Capaci, which is located within the metropolitan city of Palermo, Sicily.
Reportedly, the collision involved a Fiat Idea car and a Honda Transalp motorcycle, operated by 45-year-old Nunzio Cusimano, who had his daughter as a passenger.
Following the collision, the carabinieri and medical personnel, in conjunction with the 118 ambulances, promptly arrived at the scene. Both the man and his daughter were in grave condition and were expeditiously transported to the Villa Sofia Hospital in Palermo. Tragically, the man succumbed to his injuries at approximately 3 a.m. on the night spanning Friday, December 1st and Saturday, December 2nd.
The victim’s daughter remains in severe condition and under close observation, while the 70-year-old driver of the car was also admitted to Villa Sofia Hospital and subsequently discharged, with several days of recuperation lying ahead.
Law enforcement authorities promptly initiated inquiries to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the collision, in the hope of obtaining surveillance footage from public and private systems in the vicinity to aid the investigation.
In the interim, the ASAPS (Association of Supporters and Friends of the Traffic Police) has reported 13 road fatalities across Italy over the weekend of November 24th to 26th, comprising 8 drivers, 1 motorcyclist, 1 cyclist, and 3 pedestrians.
