The Yarrawonga Lawn Tennis Club has been honoured as the December Affiliate of the Month by Tennis Victoria, in recognition of the club’s outstanding contributions to the tennis community.
In a remarkable demonstration of commitment, the Yarrawonga Lawn Tennis Club, in partnership with the Moira Shire and Yarrawonga Mulwala Tourism, generously offered to host Tennis Victoria’s Country Week in 2023, when the Shepparton courts became unavailable due to flooding. Demonstrating their expertise in managing large grasscourt events, the Yarrawonga team also hosts Victoria’s largest Easter Tournament, attracting over 1200 players.
Additionally, the Club has received acclaim for its regular hosting of Senior ITF and Junior UTR Events. Their efforts were acknowledged with a Tournament Recognition Award from the World Tennis Masters Tour for the Victorian Seniors Grass Court Championships, in recognition of the tournament’s exceptional player satisfaction and delivery.
On a day-to-day basis, the Yarrawonga Lawn Tennis Club has experienced a pleasing increase in membership numbers, recently reaching a milestone of 500. The junior tennis program has made a substantial contribution to this growth, with around 250 juniors registered for Saturday morning tennis, including the Hot Shots program.
The club’s strong partnerships with schools, other organizations, and local businesses have played a vital role in ensuring that tennis remains a significant part of life in Yarrawonga, benefiting both the club and the broader community.
