Central Michigan University Unveils Fun-Themed Promotions for Upcoming Men’s Basketball Season

The promotional schedule for the 2023-24 Men’s Basketball season at Central Michigan University has recently been unveiled, promising an exciting lineup of events for fans. With 13 home games scheduled at McGuirk Arena, each game will feature a unique and entertaining theme, enhancing the overall spectator experience.

The season kicks off with Community Night on Wednesday, December 6, as Central Michigan takes on Valparaiso. This special occasion invites Mount Pleasant residents to enjoy discounted tickets upon presenting their IDs. To add to the evening, a local youth choir will perform the National Anthem, spreading holiday cheer.

Fans can also look forward to Holiday Classics Night on Thursday, December 21, when Detroit Mercy visits. The arena will be adorned with cutouts of popular holiday characters, making it a visually appealing experience. In addition, a pre-game movie for kids and holiday crafts will be available, with the first 500 fans receiving a CMU basketball holiday mug.

The excitement continues into the new year with the Conference Opener on Tuesday, January 2, against Buffalo. Supporters will receive 2023 CMU basketball rally towels to mark the beginning of the Mid-American Conference home and conference opener.

The matchup against Kent State on Saturday, January 13, will make history with Rubber Ducky Day. Fans will be encouraged to bring rubber duckies to help break the Guinness World Record, with those bringing 10 or more ducks receiving a specialty t-shirt. Additionally, there will be a post-game autograph signing session.

The university also honours the local community with Youth Sports Night on Friday, January 19, against Toledo. Children in jerseys will receive free or discounted admission, and there will be plenty of games and inflatables around the concourse.

For fans of the hit series Stranger Things, the game against Miami (OH) on Tuesday, January 23, has something special in store. Central Michigan will host Hawkins Night, offering tie-dye specialty t-shirts for fans to cherish.

The Maroon & Gold Game / Traditions Day on Tuesday, January 30, against Northern Illinois encourages fans to show school pride by wearing the university’s colours. Maroon and gold pom poms will be given away, and a special drum ceremony performed by the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe will symbolise Traditions Day.

As the season progresses, a variety of themes including International Students Night and Witches & Wizards Night will offer an inclusive experience for all fans.

To close the season, Senior Day on Friday, March 8, against Eastern Michigan will honour the seniors in their final home game, making it a bittersweet but memorable occasion for all involved.
