The Journey of Luke ‘The Chef’ Lessei: From the Midwest to the Muay Thai Ring

Luke ‘The Chef’ Lessei is not a typical fighter, having honed his skills in the less common combat sport of Muay Thai rather than traditional wrestling. Trained by his father, a former professional kickboxer and martial artist, Lessei began his journey at a young age of 4 in a small town in Iowa. Despite his quiet surroundings, he lived a regular childhood, engaging in outdoor activities and spending time in the gym with his father.

Having found success as an amateur fighter, Lessei turned pro and secured the Triumphant Muay Thai world championship. His career has taken him to various parts of the world, including Mexico, Argentina, and Thailand. However, 2023 brought the most significant news of his career – an offer to fight for ONE Championship.

Following his departure from a 7-year position at FedEx, Lessei is now poised to make his promotional debut at ONE Fight Night 17. As the co-main event, he is set to face off against Muay Thai veteran Smokin’ Jo Nattawut, a formidable opponent with an impressive record.

Although not a chef in the traditional sense, Lessei earned the nickname ‘The Chef’ during his amateur fighting days due to his signature move of landing teeps to his opponents’ faces. As the biggest fight of his career approaches, he aims to inspire others from small towns and humble beginnings with his journey to the top.

Tune in to ONE Fight Night 17 live on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, Dec. 8, at 8 p.m. ET, and witness the remarkable story of Luke ‘The Chef’ Lessei as he takes on the Muay Thai legend.
