Red Wings to Celebrate Mike Vernon’s Hockey Hall of Fame Night

The Detroit Red Wings are preparing for a special event this Saturday as they play host to the Ottawa Senators at Little Caesars Arena.

The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. and will include the Red Wings paying tribute to Mike Vernon, a former NHL player and five-time All-Star with an illustrious career spanning from 1982 to 2002 playing for the Flames, Red Wings, Sharks, and Panthers. The first 7,500 fans in attendance will receive a Mini Mike Vernon Goalie Mask, courtesy of WDIV Local 4.

Despite a recent 6-5 overtime loss to the Sharks, the Red Wings are hoping to build on their four-game point streak and maintain their winning momentum.

Goalie Alex Lyon has performed exceptionally well this season, boasting a 4-1-0 record, a 1.61 goals-against average, a .947 save percentage, and one shutout in five starts. Lyon is set to defend the net in the upcoming game against the Senators.

During a recent practice, J.T. Compher, who missed the game against the Sharks due to an undisclosed injury, wore a non-contact jersey. Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde stated that Compher’s availability for Saturday’s game is still uncertain, pending his performance during the morning skate.

The Red Wings are determined to learn from their recent loss and make the necessary adjustments before facing the Senators. Forward Alex DeBrincat stressed the importance of maintaining their focus and drawing lessons from past challenges to sustain their strong performance throughout the season.

The Senators, who recently suffered a 4-3 defeat against the Toronto Maple Leafs, have been led by Tim Stützle and Claude Giroux. Stützle has been pivotal in providing assists and points, while Giroux has also reached the 20-point mark this season. Goaltender Anton Forsberg has emerged victorious in three of his last five starts, and the Senators are anticipated to bring their best effort to the upcoming match against the Red Wings.

As the Red Wings gear up for Mike Vernon Hockey Hall of Fame Night, they are committed to delivering an impressive performance for their fans and securing a victory against the Senators. The team eagerly anticipates the excitement and energy of the game and aims to uphold their impressive season performance.
