Ladies Ice Hockey Dominates New Hampshire with 6-0 Win

The women’s hockey team from Providence College achieved a remarkable 6-0 victory against New Hampshire at the Whittemore Center in Durham, N.H. Standout player Reichen Kirchmair from Oakville, Ontario, led the charge with four points, while Mireille Kingsley from Sudbury, Ontario, finished the game with 27 saves.

The game saw Providence take an early lead, with Kirchmair scoring the first goal 12:57 into the first period, with assists from Lindsay Bochna and Lauren DeBlois. MĂ©gane Quirion then extended the lead to 2-0 with just 12 seconds left in the first period, with an assist from Rachel Weiss from Calgary, Alberta.

Providence continued their dominant performance into the second period, with Weiss scoring a goal 8:08 in, and Kirchmair following up with a second goal at the 12:41 mark, bringing the score to 4-0. Bochna then scored at the 3:12 mark in the third period, with Kirchmair once again assisting. Hendrikson wrapped up the game with a final goal, making it 6-0, with assists from KC Brooks and Kayla Kutes.

Kingsley’s stellar performance in goal, with 27 saves, ensured New Hampshire was unable to find the back of the net throughout the match.

Statistically, Providence outperformed New Hampshire with 29 shots and a 19/25 face-off success rate. The team also displayed a strong penalty kill, thwarting New Hampshire’s two power plays.

The victory sees Providence improve to a 6-11-1 record, while New Hampshire drops to 9-8-1.

Providence will now set their sights on their upcoming game against Boston University in Boston, Mass. on Saturday, Dec. 9, with a puck drop scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
