Colgate’s Keegan Records and Boston University’s Kyrone Alexander Earn Weekly Basketball Honors

The Patriot League PenFed Credit Union has recently announced Keegan Records from Colgate as the Men’s Basketball Player of the Week and Kyrone Alexander from Boston University as the Rookie of the Week in recognition of their exceptional performances. Records earned this accolade by scoring a season-high 22 points in Colgate’s 77-71 triumph over Vermont, while Alexander secured the award by maintaining an average of 9.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists on an impressive 75 percent shooting during Boston University’s two-game week.

In addition to these weekly commendations, Elijah Stephens, a junior guard from American University, TJ Small, a junior guard from Army West Point, Otto Landrum, a sophomore forward from Boston University, and Keith Higgins Jr., a junior guard from Lehigh were also honored for their noteworthy performances.

The recipients of the weekly men’s basketball player awards are determined through a vote by members of the League media and each school’s men’s basketball sports information director.

The current standings for the 2023 Patriot League Men’s Basketball are as follows:

– Boston University: 4-6

Keegan Records of Colgate was acknowledged for his remarkable performance in scoring a season-high 22 points and securing eight rebounds to lead Colgate to a 77-71 victory at Vermont. Meanwhile, Kyrone Alexander of Boston University maintained an average of 9.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting 75 percent from the field during BU’s two-game week.

Elijah Stephens of American University boasted a scoring average of 17.0 points, while TJ Small of Army West Point managed an average of 13.5 points. Otto Landrum of Boston University achieved a double-double with 14.0 points and 11.0 rebounds, and Keith Higgins Jr. of Lehigh finished with an impressive 19 points.

The Patriot League, now in its fourth decade of academic and athletic achievement, exemplifies that student-athletes can excel in both academics and athletics without compromising high standards.
