The Grand Blanc/Lapeer/Holly hockey co-op delivered a commanding 7-1 victory over the Mid-Michigan Raptors during the recent Mt. Pleasant showcase. Mason Wisnewski of Grand Blanc displayed exceptional prowess with two goals and an assist, while Robert Graham and Isaac Abraham, both from Grand Blanc, as well as Hunter Hall and Andrew Olson from Lapeer, also made significant contributions. Aidan RaCosta from Lapeer showcased impressive skills with four assists, and Antwan Price and Kole Jennings, both from Grand Blanc, each scored a goal. Goalie Carson Balow of Grand Blanc exhibited notable resilience in the net, making an impressive 42 saves to secure the win. The Bobcats are now looking ahead to their next challenge against Midland Dow.
In a separate event, the Thumb Area Legion co-op hockey team engaged in an exhilarating match against Southgate Unified, ultimately securing a crucial 2-1 victory with late goals from Peyton Bowerman and Gabe Vanderlip. This thrilling win not only brought an end to a three-game losing streak for the Legion but also marked their third victory of the season. Colton Hooper, Jackson Anthony, and Matthew Cummings all delivered assists, and Lauren Eager of Peck emerged as a standout player with 26 saves out of 27 shots on goal.
However, the Legion faced a tough 4-0 defeat in a conference matchup against the Tri-Valley Titans, with Eager making an impressive 48 saves despite the loss. With an overall record of 3-5 and a 0-4 standing in Mid-Michigan Hockey Conference play, the Legion is now preparing to face off against Tri-Valley once again, followed by challenging games against Port Huron Northern and Gladwin. The team is also gearing up for the “Hockey Fights Cancer” game against Grand Blanc, which is expected to be an emotional and impactful event.
