The Springboks have knocked Ireland off the top spot in the World Rugby Men’s Rankings. Ireland had held the position for 15 months but lost it after their heartbreaking defeat to the All Blacks in the Rugby World Cup. The All Blacks have now moved up to second place, just behind the new leaders South Africa. France, who were the hosts of the tournament, dropped to fourth place after their loss to the Springboks. England is now in fifth place, having moved up from sixth after their victory over Fiji. The quarter-finals also saw Argentina beat Wales, resulting in a change in their rankings. Luxembourg and Slovenia were also rewarded for their wins in the Rugby Europe Conference.
