The Bright Future of Freshman Addy Brown in Iowa State Women’s Basketball

Freshman Addy Brown of Iowa State University is quickly establishing herself as a dominant force on the court. Bill Fennelly, the coach of the Iowa State women’s basketball team, has expressed confidence in Brown’s potential, even suggesting that she may have the ability to play in the WNBA in the future.

Coach Fennelly, speaking from the Sukup Basketball Complex, has voiced his belief that Brown has the potential to join the ranks of the greats in Iowa State women’s basketball history. He has even mentioned the possibility of her picture being displayed alongside former Cyclone players who have been selected in the WNBA Draft over the years.

After delivering an outstanding performance and coming close to a triple-double in a recent game, Brown’s talent is undeniable. Her next challenge comes as Iowa State prepares to host Troy, a highly anticipated event in which fans and spectators eagerly await another memorable display of her skills.

Even before Brown began her journey at Iowa State, Coach Fennelly held high hopes for her. Hailing from Derby, Kansas, Brown was already an exceptional talent in high school and has continued to rise in her career. With such a strong and versatile skill set, she was destined to make a significant impact on the Iowa State team right from the start—this was Coach Fennelly’s belief.

Despite the team’s significant transformations, Brown was expected to be not just a contributor, but also a key player. These expectations could have been overwhelming for a freshman, but Brown has seamlessly transitioned into the college game. Having already proven herself as one of the team’s top players, averaging 14.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game, Brown is clearly a force to be reckoned with.

In a recent interview, Brown attributed her ability to adjust to the faster and more physical pace of college basketball, partly to watching her sister, Kennedy, who has also excelled in the sport. Brown’s smooth transition was evident as she came close to securing a triple-double during Iowa State’s recent triumph, displaying her exceptional talents for all to see.

Coach Fennelly has even compared her burgeoning talents to those of former Iowa State greats Bridget Carleton and Ashley Joens, recognizing the potential for a successful career in the WNBA, similar to Carleton and Joens. His confidence comes from observing the journey of numerous players to the professional level, including both the women’s and men’s teams, who have gone on to play in the NBA and WNBA, respectively.

As Brown continues to excel on the court, the goal of reaching the WNBA remains firmly within her sights. Her unwavering determination is reflected in her desire to see her picture alongside the former Iowa State greats displayed within the basketball facility.

In the midst of her promising career, it’s evident that Addy Brown is on her way to making history in Iowa State women’s basketball!
