The Okemos boys basketball team maintained its unblemished record in a highly anticipated showdown against DeWitt. The teams, both entering the game with a flawless 6-0 record, engaged in a thrilling battle.
Despite the absence of senior forward Collin Alexander, Okemos found capable replacements in the form of twin brothers Brennan and Colin Walton. The duo delivered exceptional performances, leading their team to a 58-47 victory over DeWitt.
Head coach Jeff Wonch expressed his appreciation for the team’s success, highlighting the exceptional talent of the players and coaching staff. The twins played a pivotal role in securing the win, with Brennan Walton contributing 20 points and seven rebounds, and Colin Walton making an impact with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists. Senior guard Christian Chiou also made significant contributions, adding 13 points and three assists to the team’s tally.
The game displayed the impressive synergy between the twins on the court, with Brennan’s strong performance in the second quarter complemented by Colin’s remarkable three-pointers in the second half. Their seamless coordination reflects their extensive experience playing together from a young age.
As the season progresses, Okemos will continue to depend on the Walton twins to uphold their winning streak. The team has undergone significant changes with the departure of key players from the previous season, but the twins have proven to be invaluable assets in filling the void.
Looking ahead, Okemos will prepare to face Detroit Catholic Central and Dexter in upcoming matches, with the goal of maintaining their undefeated status. On the other hand, DeWitt will seek to bounce back as they get ready to host Williamston in their final game before Christmas.
