Tri-City High School Basketball Teams Ready to Make Some Noise

The rankings for the BC High School Boys Basketball Association do not currently feature any teams from Coquitlam’s school district (SD43), however, the Tri-City high school teams are gearing up to make a statement in the upcoming season. Despite their absence from the recent rankings, the teams are eager to show what they’re made of.

Heritage Woods Kodiaks
The Heritage Woods Kodiaks may be young, but they are not to be underestimated. Their recent split at the Kodiak Klassic tournament and the Tsumura Invitational has given them a taste of competition and a hunger for more. Head coach Roj Johal is confident in his team’s ability to play fast-paced basketball and put pressure on their opponents. With senior shooting guard Aidan Wilkie leading the offense and junior point guard Afu Bullock setting the table, the Kodiaks are ready to take on the challenge. The team’s goal is to make it to the provincial tournament, and they are prepared to give it their all.

Terry Fox Ravens
Head coach Brad Petersen and the Terry Fox Ravens are determined to start playing their best basketball in January. With a talented roster, including experienced players like Ethan Chae and Brenddan Nightingale, the Ravens are focused on competing at the highest level. Matteo Frost’s return from injury is anticipated to have a significant impact on the team’s performance. Their sights are set on success, and they are ready to make it happen.

Dr. Charles Best Blue Devils
Despite facing significant changes with the loss of eight players to graduation, the Blue Devils are embracing their youth and speed. Head coach Daniel Depelteau recognizes the team’s strengths and weaknesses, and they are determined to capitalise on their qualities. With players like Matthew Catherwood and Luke Davis leading the way, the Blue Devils are prepared to demonstrate their speed and desire on the court. Their goal is to compete in every game and surprise their opponents with their tenacity.

Centennial Centaurs
The Centaurs may be young, but they are eager to prove themselves. With hard work and coachability on their side, the team is ready to utilise their size advantage to dominate the defensive zone. Led by players like Traymaine Belanger and Alex Birsan, the Centaurs are focused on making an impact with their post play and transition game. They may be young, but they are ready to make some noise.

Pinetree Timberwolves
Coach Sassan Hossein-pour acknowledges that the Timberwolves are in “rebuild mode” after a challenging previous season. Despite their struggles, the team has shown promise with a recent victory in the Christmas Classic tournament. With Grade 11 power forward Jeffrey Coghill leading the way, the Timberwolves are looking to build on their successes and qualify for the Fraser North zone playoffs. Their victory is a step forward, and they are determined to keep pushing forward.

As the regular season approaches, the Tri-City high school basketball teams are poised to showcase their talent and make their mark in the AAAA rankings. Despite their young rosters, these teams are hungry for success and ready to compete at the highest level. It is sure to be an exciting season of high school basketball.
