Brock Voigt Reaches 1,000 Point Milestone, Winona State Men’s Basketball Falls at Minot State

On the 20th of January, Winona State University’s men’s basketball team competed against the renowned Minot State following their recent victory over UMary, as well as the Minot Beavers’ triumph over the top-ranked Minnesota State. Despite their best efforts, the team fell short against the Beavers, concluding the match with a final score of 77-70.

Brock Voigt emerged as the standout player of the evening, leading Winona State with 20 points and achieving an impressive career milestone of 1,000 points scored. He made 10 out of 13 field goal attempts and secured seven rebounds during the game. Additionally, Drew Adams contributed 15 points off the bench, including a flawless 4-of-4 performance at the foul line.

During the game, both Winona State and Minot State were evenly matched in rebounding, with both teams securing 32 rebounds. However, Minot State’s bench players made a significant impact by contributing 35 points to the team’s score. In terms of free-throw shooting, the Warriors were 9-of-16, while the Beavers were 9-of-12 from the foul line.

It is worth noting that the journey from Winona to Minot State is the longest trip in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), spanning 632 miles. Nevertheless, the Warriors have maintained a strong record against the Beavers, clinching 11 wins out of their last 13 games.

Looking ahead, Winona State will return home to host upcoming games against MSU – Moorhead and St. Cloud State on January 26 and 27 respectively. The team is scheduled to play MSU – Moorhead at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the game against St. Cloud State will commence at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, both taking place at McCown Gymnasium.

The recent game provided an opportunity for Brock Voigt, Drew Adams, Connor Dillon, and Declan Dillon to exhibit their skills and contribute to the team’s performance as they continue to strive for success in future matches.
