Walsall Football Club is actively engaging their fans in promoting a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle in anticipation of the upcoming Green Football Weekend. The club is dedicated to competing in the Green Football Cup and is urging supporters to actively participate and contribute to the team’s green efforts.

The lead-up to the Green Football Weekend (2nd-5th February) has seen the unveiling of football’s most significant climate campaign, with Walsall FC taking a leading role in this movement. The club is mobilizing fans to take part in the Green Football Cup, where the outcome will be determined by climate-friendly actions taken by supporters rather than players.

The upcoming match against Sutton United on Saturday has been designated as the official Green Football Fixture and serves as a precursor to the highly anticipated Green Football Weekend. Walsall FC is one of over 80 professional UK clubs advocating for environmental protection and the future preservation of the sport.

In a bid to set an example for other clubs to emulate, Walsall FC has implemented eco-friendly measures, such as using only re-usable plastics in the Stadium Suite and the Mick Kearns Community Hub during the forthcoming game. Moreover, a Green Menu featuring a range of delicious vegan options, including Vegan Hotdogs, Vegan Chicken & Mushroom Pies, Vegan Steak Pies, and Cheese and Onion Pies, will be available at the kiosks.

The club has also taken an additional step by compiling a complimentary online Green Football Weekend Veggie Cookbook, which showcases over 70 delectable vegetarian dishes contributed by players, esteemed fans, club nutritionists, and chefs. Fans are encouraged to download the cookbook, attempt the recipes, and share their culinary creations on social media using the hashtag #TransferToVeg. In a move that inspires, Saddlers striker Jamille Matt has shared his recipe for Caribbean rice & peas, which has been featured in the Green Football Weekend Veggie Cookbook. Fans are encouraged to give the recipe a try and then register it as a goal for Walsall FC in the Green Football Cup.
