Sweden Triumphs Over Japan to Clinch Women’s Ice Hockey Gold at Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024

Sweden emerged triumphant in the Women’s Ice Hockey final at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Gangwon 2024, achieving a decisive 4-0 victory over Japan. This win served as a redemption for the Swedish team, who had previously suffered a defeat at the hands of Japan in the final at Winter YOG Lausanne 2020.

The match witnessed an impressive display from Sweden, with Tilde Grillfors scoring the opening goal 12 minutes into the first period, followed by Ebbe Westerling extending their lead just two minutes later. The Swedish team maintained their dominance as Nellie Noren scored their third goal early in the third period, and Matilda Osterman sealed the win with a goal into an empty net in the final seconds of the game.
