Border Battle Cup: Thunder Bay U15 Kings Prepare to Host Exciting Tournament

The Thunder Bay Tournament Centre is poised to be the host of an exhilarating event this weekend as the under-15 Kings present the second annual Border Battle Cup tournament, featuring a Canada vs. U.S. format.

The eight competing teams include local favourites, the Thunder Bay Kings, alongside the Sault Ste. Marie Jr. Greyhounds, Pilot Mound Buffaloes, RINK Hockey Academy, Edina Hornets, Grand Rapids Thunderhawks, Hermantown Hawks, and Minnetonka Skippers.

Commencing on Thursday and lasting until Sunday, the tournament will showcase medal and consolation contests in order to determine the champions.

Furthermore, Thunder Bay’s under-18 squad is en route to southern Ontario for a four-game set in Greater Toronto Hockey League play.

Last weekend, both the U15 and U18 teams engaged in matches against GTHL opponents, resulting in the U15s posting a 1-3-0 record and the U18s managing a 1-1-2 record.

The U15s suffered defeats at the hands of the Mississauga Senators, Reps Hockey Club, and Markham Majors before concluding their GTHL schedule with a victory over the Vaughan Kings.

Conversely, the U18s encountered a variety of closely contested matches, including a narrow loss to the North York Rangers, a draw with the Toronto Marlboros, a tie with the Mississauga Rebels, and a resounding victory over the Reps Hockey Club.

Future matchups for the U18s include games against the Markham Majors, Mississauga Rebels, and Vaughan Kings, culminating in a meeting with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens.

As of February 14, the Kings’ GTHL record includes a 5-21-6 record for the U13s, a 6-27-3 record for the U15s, a 5-26-1 record for the U16s, and a 3-20-5 record for the U18s.

This weekend holds the promise of delivering an exciting and action-packed series of hockey games in Thunder Bay, with the U15 Kings eager to provide a spectacular performance for their home crowd.
