The men’s golf team at the University of Washington has achieved a prominent position in the national top 5 rankings, demonstrating the strength that derives from diversity. Head coach Alan Murray, hailing from Ireland, has assembled an international roster of top golfers, including Petr Hruby from the Czech Republic, Taehoon Song from South Korea, Finn Koelle from Germany, Teddy Lin from Taiwan, Justin Bai and Bo Peng from China, as well as U.S.-born players Justin Hopkins and Drew Warford.
Despite the occasional “cultural challenges,” the team’s close bond is evident, with the shared love for golf serving as a unifying factor that brings them together. This approach has undoubtedly contributed to the team’s success, reflected in their top-four finishes in fall tournaments and strong start to the spring season with notable performances at the Southwestern Invitational and the Amer Ari Invite.
Coach Murray attributes the team’s success to their wealth of experience, with seasoned players and a competitive edge that comes from an advanced age by college golf standards.
