It is with great formality that we announce the resignation of Justine Westwood, Vice Chair of Scottish Hockey, from her position on the Scottish Hockey Board following the completion of her term as a director. Furthermore, Justine will also be stepping down from her esteemed role as Chair of the People Committee, a position she has dutifully held since its inception.
The Scottish Hockey community is deeply appreciative of the invaluable contributions made by Justine during her tenure on the board. Her dedication and diligent work have left a lasting impact that will be held in high regard.
In her own words, Justine Westwood stated, “It has been a great privilege to serve as a board director, and later as Vice Chair of Scottish Hockey for the past four years, particularly during the initial hardships and challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. Throughout this time, I take great pride in my involvement in the member engagement project, playing a role in enhancing leadership, organizational culture, as well as the overall wellbeing and welfare within the organization. This includes the governance Reset at board level and the establishment and leadership of the People Committee.”
Further elaborating, she explained, “As the Build phase of our vision to become a professional, commercially sustainable, visible, diverse, and world-class governing body is well underway, it feels like the appropriate time for me to step down from the board. Nonetheless, I will continue to actively participate in the sport and extend my best wishes to the board, staff, and members of Scottish Hockey as the organization continues to thrive and prosper.”
Martin Shepherdson, Chair of Scottish Hockey, also expressed his gratitude, stating, “It has been a pleasure working with Justine as a board member and Vice-Chair. All of Scottish Hockey is indebted to her for her unwavering commitment and contributions that have propelled the organization forward over the past few years. I wish Justine the very best and eagerly anticipate seeing her at the side of a pitch in the near future.”
