Quinnipiac Women’s Tennis Team Suffers Narrow Defeat Against URI

The Quinnipiac women’s tennis team faced a challenging 4-3 loss to URI on Sunday, February 18. Despite the closely contested match, Dominique Yeo and Vera Sekerina clinched a victory in their doubles match. Sekerina, Schulson, and Lewis also emerged triumphant in their respective singles matches.

In the singles portion, Anagha Shankar was defeated by Herrman from URI with a score of 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. However, Vera Sekerina managed to overcome Rajan from URI with a score of 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, while Caroline Schulson successfully defeated Cvackova from URI with a score of 7-6(2), 7-6(5). Unfortunately, Caitlin Flower and Nikole Lisovyy were unable to secure wins in their singles matches. Nevertheless, Ella Lewis emerged victorious against Shanker from URI with a score of 3-6, 7-6(7), 7-6(6).

In the doubles portion, URI’s Cvackova and Herrman defeated Quinnipiac’s Anagha Shankar and Jordan Bradley with a score of 6-4. Meanwhile, Rajan and Fernanado from URI also secured a victory against Caroline Schulson and Caitlin Flower from Quinnipiac with the same score of 6-4. However, the Quinnipiac duo of Vera Sekerina and Dominique Yeo managed to grab a win, defeating Nelander and Shanker from URI with a score of 6-4.

It is noteworthy that Vera Sekerina has been on a three-match winning streak.

Looking ahead, the Bobcats will travel to West Point, N.Y. to face Delaware on Friday, February 23 and Army on Sunday, February 25. The match on Friday is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM, while Sunday’s match will kick off at noon.
