Chilean golfer Joaquin Niemann was delighted to receive an exclusive invitation to compete at the Masters, which is scheduled to take place at Augusta National from April 11-14. This exciting news came on the eve of the International Series Oman tournament at Al Mouj Golf, where Niemann continued to showcase his exceptional form.
The Torque GC captain has been in excellent form recently, achieving a remarkable 59 at the LIV Golf Mayakoba event and securing a thrilling playoff victory. Additionally, he emerged as the winner of the Australian Open after another intense playoff in December. With such a strong track record, it’s no surprise that Niemann was absolutely thrilled by the Masters invitation.
Expressing his excitement, Niemann said, “It is exciting, I was trying to chase that invite so it is nice that they called me yesterday – I am super excited with that news. I obviously love that course at Augusta National and it is one of those courses you must be hitting it well off the tee and hitting it long. If I keep driving it well, I think it is going to serve me well and I’m looking forward to that week.”
Niemann now has several weeks to refine his game in preparation for the prestigious tournament. After the International Series Oman, he is set to participate in the LIV Golf Jeddah event in Saudi Arabia, followed by tournaments in Hong Kong and Macau. These upcoming competitions will offer Niemann valuable opportunities to sharpen his skills and gear up for the Masters.
In terms of his performance at previous Masters tournaments, Niemann’s trajectory is certainly upward. His last three appearances resulted in finishes at T40, T35, and T16, indicating his steady improvement and growing optimism for the upcoming event.
Looking ahead, Niemann expressed his eagerness for the upcoming tournaments, stating, “I’m looking forward for all those next three weeks, they will all give me good preparation for what’s coming next. I like my chances and I want to play well. Obviously, I can’t say what’s going to happen, I have to go out there and grind it.”
The International Series Oman, which commenced today, will run until February 25 at Al Mouj Golf. This tournament serves as the opening event on The International Series and is the second event on the Asian Tour calendar.
