The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) has recently announced the latest recipients of the Men’s and Women’s Tennis Weekly Awards for the week of February 27, 2024.
Karol Malirz, a junior from Delaware, has been honoured as the CAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for his exceptional performance. He secured two wins at No. 1 singles, contributing to Delaware’s continued unbeaten streak. Malirz also clinched the match point in their victory over Monmouth, displaying exceptional skill and determination on the court.
Meanwhile, Mia Palladino, a freshman from Stony Brook, has been named the CAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. She achieved a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles, helping Stony Brook claim a win over CAA opponent Monmouth. Palladino also partnered with Darian Perfiliev for a successful outing at No. 2 doubles against the Hawks.
In addition, the Men’s Doubles Team of the Week title has been awarded to UNCW’s Reece Falck and Harold Huens, while UNCW’s Elif Albayrak and Eda Arli were recognised as the Women’s Doubles Team of the Week. Both teams demonstrated remarkable teamwork and skill in their respective matches, contributing to their team’s success.
These recent honours add to a list of talented players who have been recognised throughout the season. Players from Elon, Drexel, and William & Mary have also received awards for their exceptional performance in previous weeks.
