The IUPUI basketball team is preparing to host Milwaukee in their final home game of the season on February 28th at 7:00 p.m. at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. The upcoming game is being promoted as BLACKOUT NIGHT, presented by IUPUI Africana Studies and Black & Minority Owned Business Night, with the aim of showcasing Central Indiana businesses. Fans are encouraged to wear black in support of the event.
Following a challenging 80-64 road loss at Northern Kentucky, the Jaguars are focused on bouncing back in their home finale. Lead guard Bryce Monroe was absent during the previous game, and the team put up a strong effort with notable performances from Jlynn Counter and Vincent Brady II. Senior John Egbuta also made a significant contribution to the score.
Milwaukee secured a victory in their previous meeting with IUPUI and enters Indianapolis with a 15-14 overall record and a 10-8 record in Horizon League play. The Panthers are in good form, winning three of their last four games, including a victory against Purdue Fort Wayne.
Historically, IUPUI has a 6-16 record against Milwaukee. This season, Milwaukee emerged victorious with an 87-67 win against IUPUI.
As the Barbasol Horizon League Tournament approaches, IUPUI is preparing to compete as either the No. 10 or No. 11 seed. The team has also put forward three players for postseason awards, showcasing their determination in the final games of the season.
Under the leadership of head coach Matt Crenshaw, the team has faced challenges such as injuries and illness, resulting in a rotating starting lineup. Nevertheless, nine different Jaguars have contributed to the team’s efforts, displaying a comprehensive approach on the court.
Off the court, the Jaguars have excelled academically, with seven squad members achieving a grade point average above 3.0 for the fall semester. Unfortunately, Amhad and Armon Jarrard will redshirt this season due to injuries, presenting additional challenges for the team.
